Alteo inaugurates a new high energetic performance cogeneration
A few days after the announcement of the construction of a new solution of water treatment, Alteo inaugurates in partnership with ENGIE Cofely, a high energetic performance cogeneration.
Thanks to the revalorization of a heater at a standstill since 2013, and profiting of new technologies, the cogeneration unit, which was designed by ENGIE Cofely, will produce simultaneously thermal energy and electricity. It will thus provide 10% of the steam used by Alteo for its industrial process. It will also inject the produced electricity on the electricity transport network (the equivalent of the consumption of a city of 20 000 habitants), as a consequence liberating transport and production capacities on the regional electrical network. This improves the energy performance with 20% compared to a separated production.
Global leader of specialty aluminas, Alteo is committed to reduce continuously its environmental footprint. “This cogeneration unit participates in this strategy allowing us to optimize our energy use. It is fully in line with COP21 and the French Energy transition” comments Frédéric RAMÉ, Alteo’s President
